WATCH: Biden Claims He Recently Spoke To Former French President Who Died In 1996

Last weekend, Joe Biden spoke to a crowd in Las Vegas where he claimed that he met with former French President Francois Mitterand during a G7 summit after he was elected president.

Biden’s comments have viewers scratching their heads, given that Mitterand was the president of France between 1981 and 1995 and has also been dead for nearly thirty years.

The purpose of Biden illustrating this alleged encounter with the deceased Mitterand was to warn Americans of a second Trump presidency and the supposed danger to Democracy it would pose in light of the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests.

Biden appeared to recite a story he has often recounted throughout his presidency, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron during a G7 meeting in England after recently taking the White House from former President Donald Trump. Biden rambles through the monologue in a barely coherent manner before claiming that he conversed with “Mitterand from Germany.”

Biden stated, “Right after I was elected, I went to what they call a G7 meeting, all of the NATO leaders. I was in, in, South, anyway. I sat down I said America’s back. And Mitterand from Germany, I mean from France looked at me and said…uh…said. You know…what, why? How long you back for?”

Biden paused momentarily, and several audience members could be heard laughing while the rest of the crowd was dead silent. Biden proceeded to outline a hypothetical scenario where the House of Commons, the lower house of the Parliament of the U.K., was stormed by protestors attempting to disrupt an election.

“And I looked at him and the Chancellor of Germany said ‘what would you say Mr. President? Pick up the paper tomorrow in the London Times and the London Times said 1000 people break through the House of Commons break down the doors, two Bobby’s are killed in order to stop the election of the Prime Minister.’ What would you have said? I never thought about what would we say that happened in other democracies around the world?” the president continued.

Since Biden’s historically dubious comments, the clip from the speech has gone viral on social media, where people have expressed heightened concern over his mental capabilities and ability to lead the United States. Throughout the Biden administration, many have expressed skepticism over Biden’s cognitive function, given many instances similar to this speech.

“Omg. It’s elder abuse,” one person said about the video on X. “Sure grandpa. Now let’s get you to bed,” another person added along the same lines. Considering that such a public slip-up is nothing new for President Biden, another person added, “Scary thing is that’s not one of his worst mistakes.”

“That was excruciating to watch. Like watching grandpa at the dinner table telling you a story that takes 30 minutes to tell. This is the most popular president. THIS!” another user said, disputing claims surrounding Joe Biden’s popularity.

Raheem Kassam, the editor-in-chief of the National Pulse, posted the clip on X with the caption, “Joe Biden says he recently met with “Mitterand from Germany.” Mitterand was the FRENCH President between 1981 and 1995. He also died in 1996.”
