Father of Slain University Student Laments Politicization of Daughter’s Murder Amid Border Crisis

Jason Riley, father of murdered University of Georgia student Laken Riley, spoke with NBC’s Priscilla Thompson, airing concerns over the politicization of his daughter’s death amid border security issues.

Laken was fatally attacked by an illegal immigrant while jogging last month. Riley expressed uncertainty about immigration policy altering the tragedy but emphasized the need for secure borders. He lamented not being able to protect his daughter and criticized President Biden’s handling of border policies.

Despite the politicization, Riley acknowledged the conversation sparked about border security and violence against women. Former President Trump privately met with Laken’s family before a rally, honoring her memory. The House passed the Laken Riley Act, awaiting Senate approval.
