At The Masters’ kickoff, South African golfing legend Gary Player hailed the U.S. as the world’s greatest country, urging gratitude for its contributions globally.

Player, 88, joined Jack Niklaus and Tom Watson as an honorary starter for the 88th Masters Tournament.

A three-time Masters winner and holder of nine major championships, Player also shared his secret to longevity, learned from a specialist in India.

Reflecting on his first Masters in 1957, Player fondly recalled meeting former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, praising his belief in freedom and contributions to the nation.
