Red State Attorneys General Challenge Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan

Seven attorneys general from red states, including Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida, filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s plan to forgive student loans.

The AGs argue that the plan is unconstitutional and illegal, claiming that President Biden is sidestepping Congress to implement a costly policy.

The Biden-Harris Administration had announced plans to provide debt relief to over 30 million borrowers, emphasizing its potential to benefit communities of color and financially vulnerable borrowers.

However, the AGs counter that this approach turns the student loan program into an unauthorized grant scheme, urging the court to halt the program as an unlawful overreach by the President.
