Biden’s Education Secretary Threatens to Shut Down Grand Canyon University

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has vowed to shut down Grand Canyon University (GCU), the largest Christian university in the U.S., during a House Appropriations Committee hearing.

Responding to Rep. Rosa DeLauro’s allegations of GCU being “predatory,” Cardona emphasized the Department of Education’s efforts to crack down on schools that mislead students about costs.

He mentioned levying the largest fine in history against a school and terminating it from Title IV funding. In response, GCU officials criticized Cardona’s comments as reckless and factually incorrect, alleging they stem from “deeply held bias.”

They demand an immediate retraction and assert that the university is committed to affordable education and its Christian mission.
