Gaetz Accuses DOJ of Political Agenda in Trump Case Ahead of 2024 Election

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz has accused Biden’s DOJ special counsel, Jack Smith, of attempting to influence the 2024 election by pushing for an early trial against former President Trump.

Gaetz claims Smith’s request for a rapid SCOTUS review of Trump’s immunity claim lacks a legitimate, non-election-related purpose, suggesting it’s purely political.

Gaetz warns that allowing Smith’s agenda could tarnish the DOJ’s reputation. Despite SCOTUS agreeing to hear the case, Gaetz believes the immunity claim will favor Trump.

He condemns Smith’s actions as partisan and an attempt to interfere with the 2024 election, hoping Smith will be held accountable for the perceived witch hunt against Trump.
