Judge Rebukes NY Attorney General in Trump Real Estate Case

New York Attorney General Letitia James faced criticism from a state judge for trying to bypass a court victory for former President Donald Trump in his real estate case.

An appeals court upheld a $175 million civil bond for Trump, rejecting James’ claim that the underwriting company lacked resources. The court specified that the $175 million must be in cash, not fluctuating assets.

James’ initial $454 million judgment against Trump was significantly reduced on appeal. Critics argue that James’ pursuit of Trump is politically motivated, given her campaign promises targeting him.

Legal experts from both sides have criticized James for her approach, suggesting it’s a “witch hunt” inconsistent with how other real estate moguls are treated.
