The whole internet coIIaborated to determine what this kitchen tooI was

The internet collaborated to identify a mysterious kitchen tool.

The rotating mixer was patented in 1856 by Baltimore tinner Ralph Collier, followed by E.P. Griffith’s 1857 whisk in England, and J.F. and E.P. Monroe’s 1859 hand-turned rotary egg beater in the US. The Dover Stamping Company acquired Monroe’s patent, making “Dover beaters” a classic American brand by 1929.

In 1870, Turner Williams invented another Dover model, and in 1884, Willis Johnson made further improvements. Rufus Eastman created the first electric mixer in 1885. Early electric mixers included the Hobart KitchenAid and Sunbeam Mixmaster. In 1908, Herbert Johnston of Hobart invented a 20-gallon electric standing mixer, leading to the 1919 Kitchen Aid Food Preparer for home use.
