The Unforgettable Gift

It’s hard to predict the outcomes of our actions. Even with the best intentions, things can go wrong. We can try to fix it or laugh about it, but some outcomes are inevitable.

For my birthday, my husband gave me a shower gel, which annoyed me since we weren’t financially struggling. I hated the scent, so I poured it down the toilet in frustration. Later, he asked, “Did you find it?” He had hidden a ring in the bottle cap as a surprise. He ended up fishing it out of the toilet himself.
