At 74, Jay Leno planning for death, leaves chunk of cash to cars – ‘no one lives forever’

After decades in the spotlight, 74-year-old Jay Leno is making end-of-life arrangements, leaving a significant portion of his wealth to a car museum, a passion that nearly killed him twice.

Leno’s love for cars is well-known, showcased in his web series “Jay Leno’s Garage” with 3.7 million YouTube subscribers. However, in November 2022, he suffered third-degree burns in a garage fire, followed by a motorcycle accident two months later.

Despite his health struggles, Leno’s love for his wife, Mavis, remains strong. Married since 1980, Mavis was diagnosed with dementia, and Leno was granted conservatorship over her estate in 2024.

Now, Leno is preparing for his own death, ensuring Mavis is cared for and his fortune is distributed as planned. His collection of automobiles, valued at over $52 million, will be turned into a museum by the JDM Foundation.

Leno’s arrangements also include $7 million for Mavis’ brother and his nephew. His trust amendments are expected to be approved.
