My Boyfriend Wants a Paternity Test for Our Newborn Daughter

My boyfriend of 7.5 years and I just had our daughter three weeks ago, and now he’s asking for a paternity test. We met at work—I’m a nurse, and he’s a busy surgeon. I’m home while he supports us.

I’ve always been faithful, despite his past mistakes, which I forgave. He even told his coworkers about the paternity test, which upset me. He says he just wants to be sure she’s his.

But then he mentioned that since he’s rarely home, he doesn’t know what I’m doing. This hurt because I’ve always been loyal. If he wants to pay for the test, I’m fine with it, but am I wrong for being upset that he’s questioning my faithfulness?

People supported her, saying he’s projecting his own behavior onto her and suggesting she’s justified in feeling hurt. They also warned that his trust issues might stem from his own infidelity.
