I Returned Home after Giving Birth to Find My Baby’s Room Destroyed and Repainted Black

The joy of bringing my newborn daughter home vanished when I saw her room. The pink nursery was ruined—black walls, broken crib, and missing toys. But it was my mother-in-law’s cruel reason that shattered me the most.

Tim and I had been thrilled by our daughter’s arrival, despite her dark skin, a beautiful surprise linked to Tim’s Black great-grandfather. Yet, his mom refused to accept Amelia, believing she wasn’t Tim’s child.

When I returned home, I found Janet had repainted the nursery black, claiming it “wasn’t appropriate” for a baby she didn’t consider her grandchild. Furious, I recorded her racist remarks and shared the truth online. Family members rallied behind us, and Janet even lost her job.

Though Janet tried to destroy us, we rebuilt the nursery, and our little family came out stronger. Now, she’s out of our lives, and I wonder, did I go too far?
