Joran van der Sloot Attacked in Peruvian Prison: Dangerous Prison Environment and Personal Conflicts
Joran van der Sloot, convicted for the murder of Natalee Holloway and serving time in Peru’s Challapalca Prison, was attacked by two inmates.
This maximum-security prison houses Peru’s most dangerous convicts, making it a perilous environment. Van der Sloot is incarcerated for the 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Stefany Flores Ramirez.
Following the assault, guards intervened during a brawl, and van der Sloot was examined for minor injuries before returning to the general population.
Peru’s National Penitentiary Institute acknowledged the desire for his demise due to his alleged arrogance and the victim’s influential family background. Former inmates and acquaintances describe van der Sloot as confrontational and arrogant, predicting he might not survive his sentence.
